Nigeria has more stars than Sweden – Lagerback

Super Eagles manager, Lars Lagerback, on Wednesday said Nigeria had more star players than Sweden.
Largerback argued that Sweden had a good team and that Zlatan Ibramovic was the only star player in the team.

Lagerback spoke about the 2002 World Cup

New Super Eagles coach Lars Lagerback inadvertently embarrassed one of his predecessors, Adegboyega Onigbinde, during his presentation to the panel interviewing him.

During the course of his presentation, Lagerback spoke about the 2002 World Cup and how Sweden upstaged Argentina, England and Nigeria to win the group. (more…)

Lars Lagerbäck is new Nigeria coach

The Nigeria Football Federation has finally named former Sweden coach Lars Lagerback as the new coach of the Super Eagles.

The Swede’s contract will be for an initial five months and he will be expected to deliver at least a semi-final finish at the World Cup in South Africa. (more…)

Hiddink,Trapattoni Rejects Eagles Job

Another blow in the face of Nigerian football lovers.

Unconfirmed reports disclosed that Hiddink who earns $8m per year as Russian coach had requested for a whopping sum of $3m for four months among other financial conditions that didn’t go down well with the NFF.
In a related development, Italian-born coach, Giovanni Trapattoni, has also withdrawn from the race, saying he is happy as the coach of the Republic of Ireland. All the invited coaches are expected to start arriving Abuja as from February 24 ahead of the interview scheduled to hold on the 26th.

Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) orders Trapattoni, Hiddink to Abuja

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has denied reports that they have concluded arrangement to meet with Republic of Ireland manager, Giovanni Trapattoni, Guus Hiddink as well as the other coaches in London Thursday next week.

Chairman of the NFF technical committee, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi, said there was no iota of truth in the report just as he informed that all the candidates jostling for Shaibu Amodu’s job had been instructed to hit Abuja for interview. (more…)
