Kienuwa Obaseki

My advise to the Acting President Jonathan Goodluck is to declare Plateau “A state of emergency” and send in an organized and effective military or Police leadership. It is apparent, there is no effective leadership in the state and if there is, he is partisan and also a tribalist. The Governor will be the most foolish person if he tells the world this kind mayhem was unforeseen. As gruesome as this incident may appear, it is a tick for tact by the Fulanis on what the whole World saw about two months ago. (more…)

Mr. Speaker, Sir! Points of Order.

Point of Order 1: If you were quoted correctly, next time, please update this grammatical misnomer, ” I have no choice than to….” The correct usage is “I have no choice but to….”

Point of Order 2: It is a legislative privilege, not a right, for the Speaker to invite a member(s) to approach the Chair. The house instrumentality is not designed for perfunctory interruptions or suppression of member opinions. If the Speaker is concerned that a recognized member on his or her feet on the floor of the house is engaging in some rhetoric or polemic capable of unduly inflaming passion, a point of order will suffice, citing the legislative basis for such Point of Order. I urge the civil society groups to rise up to the challenge. The Nigerian mass are crying for direction. We must not relent in our efforts to salvage this country. It’s becoming very glaring to the extent the blind can see that majority of those in the corridors of power are not there for the general good but their selfish interest. The ‘SAVE THE NATION’ (more…)

Many a Nigerian is so sentimental about football that his judgment is narrow, to say the least. Even though I criticized Amodu’s competence and tactical approach to matches, the Ghanaian team is far from a world cup form.

Nobody tries that defensive football the Ghanaians played at Angola and expects to win a match at the world cup. The Ghanaians were out-played in their match against Nigeria and quite lucky to have beaten a more experienced Nigerian (more…)

Technical depth will win the match. Starting shirts should be given to players with emotional intelligence and grit. Start Obafemi and rest Yakubu for early goals. Rest Etuhu and start Ayinla in the middle of the pack. Kaita has done well so far, start him and probably introduce Uche later to support Mikel with his disappointing low work rate.

The Zambians are good passers of the ball, so we need pace, vision and grit to cover those spaces. Osaze and Chinedu (more…)

Akhere Obumese says: Much as we need local based players so also we do need local coaches but certainly not Amoudu Shaibu. Amoudu problems is compounded with the fact that he might be collecting dollars from the foreign based players which he may be sharing with the NFF.
It is shocking to see that the Nigerian league that was adjudged the best in Africa in 2009, Amoudu could could not find any player in the league to pick. (more…)

In fact I am obsessed that we are beginning to be aware of the ills of our so called fathers times. Ojo has never distinguished himself as a good states man in this dispensation. his time of glories are gone and i think it is time he given an objective information. the other time over the CNN he was proud to say that he has never opted to speak with (more…)

Dear Lucas, Otokunefor,
I am one Nigerian that does not care if 10 or more successive Presidents are Ijaws, Yorubas, …….etc, as long as they are the best qualified to govern us and they have won in elections that were free and fair. Part of our myopic , retrogressive views is this idea of regional rotation of the Presidency..
I am very proud to let Lucas know that in my High School, Christ’s School Ado-Ekiti, Ibos, Ijaws etc were made Senior Prefects on the basis of their levels of competence and proven leadership prowess. This was in a school that was at least 95% predominantly Yorubas.

Let us build a Nation where we are ready to pick our leaders based on their track-record of proven exemplenary motivational leadership skills , competence and vision. I don’t hold any grudge against an Ijaw or any Nigerian becoming the President, but we will never be a great nation if parochial or tribal interests are the yardstick for selecting our leaders.
