Sports Minister, Ndanusa, says ‘Eagles won’t find things easy in Angola’

Nigeria’s Super Eagles need to prepare to scale the greatest hurdles of their lives in Angola when they file out against the defending champions, Egypt, tomorrow in the Africa Cup of Nations event.

Minister of Sports, Engineer Isa Ndanuusa, admitted that the Africa Cup of Nations, will be a tough tournament but added that in the end, the Nigerian Super Eagles have all it takes to prove to the world that they are a super team. (more…)

Nigeria’s Super Eagles will be paid $30 000 bonus per player

Nigeria’s Super Eagles will be paid $30 000 bonus per player for every game they win at the group stage of this year’s African Nations Cup.

That figure will be reviewed and graduated upwards for the knockout stages.

Additionally, the players will be paid an appearance fee of $3 000 per game for every game they feature in at the championships.

Martins available for Nigeria

Obafemi Martins will be available for Nigeria’s opening African Nations Cup game against Egypt on January, team officials have said.

Martins is scheduled to appear before a High Court Judge a day before the match to defend himself on charges of owing GBP300 000 to NVA management.

Amodu replaces Eneramo with Ogbuke

A twist of fate has seen Chinaedu Obasi Ogbuke make the final list of players who would do battle for Nigeria at the 2010 Nations Cup scheduled to begin this weekend in Angola.
According to Abdul Zaki Ibrahim, Nigeria Football Federation’s (NFF) assistant media officer, Coach Amodu Shaibu decided to replace Michael Eneramo with Ogbuke because of his goal-scoring abilities, especialy in their Sundays friendly match against a South African (more…)

Super Eagles coach, Shaibu Amodu may have to make do without star player,Obafemi Martins, at the Africa Cup of Nations after the Wolfsburg striker’s injury woes seem set to continue.

Martins has been out of action ever since he underwent surgery on a shin injury back in November and has since been struggling to return to full match fitness in time for the Nations Cup. (more…)

Nigeria’s Super Eagles, commenced their Africa Cup of Nations preparation on a shaky note as they struggled to beat a South African First Division club, Thanda Royal Zulu, 1-0 on Sunday at the ABSA Stadium in Durban.

Little known Thanda Royal Zulu played the Super Eagles to stand still and were on the verge of holding the star-studded Nigerian squad to an embarrassing goalless draw until the dying minute when Hoffenheim of Germany striker, (more…)
