Bond with his girls (new girl Bérénice Marlohe is at left; Naomie Harris, a.k.a. Miss Moneypenny, at right) Jon …

This morning in London, Sony Pictures had a big press conference about the next James Bond movie, the one that has been rumored and delayed and speculated about for months upon years. Sitting up there on stage were Daniel Craig, and Judi Dench, and director Sam Mendes and even Javier Bardem, who is gonna play the bad guy. It really happened. The movie is totally coming now. They had a press conference: They can't back out at this point.

The more prurient of you are probably wondering: "So, who's the hot Bond girl?" Well, you Y-chromosome-driven Beavis: It's Bérénice Marlohe, a French model who has, in fact, never appeared in an English-speaking movie before. (She has barely been in any French-speaking ones.)

She will play "a glamorous, enigmatic character named Severin." That's to say: A Bond girl. If you want to know a bit more about what she looks like -- and we suspect you do -- JoBlo.com has the definitive photo gallery.

Onto the other news: According to the press conference, they are starting shooting ... today. Probably a good idea, considering the movie is expected to be out a year from now. There were lots of news items to come out of the press conference, but here's the most impressive one to us: James Bond now has a Twitter! Obviously, the handle is @007. That Twitter account gave out all kinds of details about the film during the press conference. Here are the key ones:

  • "The title of Bond 23 will be....Skyfall." That's the first one-word Bond title since "GoldenEye," a forgettable Bond film known mostly for an awesome Nintendo 64 game.
  • "Ben Whishaw, Ralph Fiennes and Albert Finney will all be joining the Skyfall cast." We would watch Albert Finney chew on straw for two hours.
  • "Javier Bardem will play Skyfall's villain." So there's official confirmation of that, in case you were wondering why he was on stage.
  • "Director Sam Mendes says Skyfall "is its own story. It doesn't connect with the last two movies." This is good. We were already tired of the "guilty Bond" storyline.

GORGEOUS! SMART! SWEET! LOVELY! This are the few adjectives that describes Sarah Ofili-the soon to be Mrs Onunaku aka Mrs Killz, who was serenaded by her beau Ikechukwu Ugonna Onunaku-KILLZ on October 22, 2011 as she added a year. She got one of the best birthday presents so far on her birthday-a beautiful D.I.A.M.O.N.D ring. Like you all know, diamonds are supposedly the ladies best-friend. It was the opportunity for the rapper/entertainer to cement his love for his beau of many years and propose marriage, which the sweet boo sweetly & gladly accepted.

So we are all highly expectant as the couple would soon be picking a date for the nuptial.

And like this picture seems to suggest-It’s a done deal, so haters go******

D’Banj to be honoured at Channel O Music Video Awards

D’Banj

D’Banj has been nominated for this year’s Special Recognition Award at the upcoming Channel O Music Video Awards slated for Friday, 11 November in South Africa.

D’Banj follows in the footsteps of many of Africa’s prominent and successful musicians including K’NAAN who was given the Special Recognition Award in 2010, Brenda Fassie in 2009 and George Lee in 2008.

Being honoured by the Channel O Music Video Awards, which he also co-hosted with DJ Sbu in 2007, is special given that D’Banj released his debut album just six years ago and has made a huge impact both locally and internationally, with his recent signing onto Kanye West’s G.O.O.D Music record label.

Since the release of his debut, No Long Thing in 2005, featuring the smash hit Tongolo, D’Banj has worked ceaselessly to create a career that is now the benchmark for 21st century African artists.

D'Banj's second album, Rundown Funk U Up (2006) proved his ability to create club hits such as Why Me?. His hit-making ability was only reinforced in 2008 with the release of his third album, The Entertainer, featuring the singles Gbono Feli Feli, Kimon, Olorun Maje and Entertainer.

“It’s really an honour for us to be celebrating an artist such as D’Banj for this year’s Special Recognition Award. Besides the obvious success that D’Banj has had, one of the stand-out factors is that his career, his success and his path run parallel with the growth that we have seen in the African music industry since the inception of the Channel O Music Video Awards. To us he represents a breed of African urban artists who are the African dream,” Leslie ‘Lee’ Kasumba, Channel O Africa Manager said.

M-Net Channel Director Yolisa Phahle also said “His star has been rising for many years now. D’Banj is an artiste who has the ability to communicate and connect in a meaningful way. As a musician he is a trendsetter and as a presenter he is entertaining with a wonderful sense of humour. His success both at home and internationally is a testament to his great talent and I am in no doubt that this is just the beginning.”

D'Banj’s most recent big-hitter is also his most high profile: a remix of Mr Endowed featuring the inimitable Snoop Dogg that was released in February 2011.

His role as Nigeria's first United Nations Youth Ambassador for Peace and the founder of the Koko Foundation for Youth and Peace Development says a great deal about D’Banj’s commitment to Nigeria and Africa.

The 2011 edition of the Channel O Music Video Awards comes off Friday November 11 from the Sandton Convention Center, Johannesburg, South Africa.
