Fashola Rescue Dying Bazuaye
2010-03-10 at 12:20 pm administratorAmanze Uchegbulam, first vice chairman of the Nigeria Football Association, is walking taller than his height for some achievement.
But he strongly says nothing should be attributed to him but the sports loving governor of Lagos State who is also breaking grounds in other areas.
Amanze returned from Ghana where All Stars of Lagos played against their Accra counterparts and in an interaction with Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, himself a member of Lagos All Stars, he informed the governor that Willy Bazuaye, one of the tested Nigerian coaches,
was dying in his Benin home after suffering a stroke.Fashola immediately directed his Chief of Staff to move Bazuaye to Lagos and ensure adequate medical attention for him even if it will require flying him abroad.
“The governor was alarmed by Bazuaye’s story and directed that he be taken care of immediately. He was just his usual self – caring and ever ready to touch many lives through many projects including healthcare,” Uchegbulam said, adding “he is such a wonderful person.”
Bazuaye coached many clubs in Nigeria and together with Bonfrere Jo, he won the Atlanta ’96 Olympics soccer gold medal for Nigeria.
