Super Eagles manager, Lars Lagerback, on Wednesday said Nigeria had more star players than Sweden.
Largerback argued that Sweden had a good team and that Zlatan Ibramovic was the only star player in the team.
He said, “We can count many names as star players in the Nigerian team. I mean players that are known on the world stage.
“Blending the players to become a good team is a task one has to face and that will be done because Nigeria has the talents to do well on the world stage.
“I want to emphasise that players are all over the place both within and outside but only the best will be good enough for the team we are going to prepare for South Africa.”
Lagerback promised to give 100 per cent effort to the new job to enable Nigeria to regain her lost glory in global football.
“I will do my best but I think it is better to allow what happens on the pitch do the talking. I am happy with the hospitality of the Nigerian people. I really feel at home here.
“There is need to visit some of these players and talk to them and the Nigeria Football Federation has endorsed that,” he said.
The President of NFF, Sani Lulu, commended the interview panel that chose Lagerback for the Eagles job.
“The process was fair and transparent. We are happy with the panel and we are happy to have Lars as our coach. We are going to give him all the support to excel with the Eagles. We went for him because we want good results,” Lulu said.
