Dee’ Jay Manixx is a member of the world famous “Hottest Coalition of Nigerian Dj’s”. Together, Harry Baba and Dee Jay ManixX compiled a comprehensive selection of the best, chart topping, popular Nigerian afro beat, afro hip hop and dance music that includes the aforementioned notables, as well as music from up and coming underground Nigerian artists. The entire collection is free to the public and available for downloading at http://www.greenoctober.djmanixx.com/
The “Green” in Green October represents the diversity of the Nigerian (Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, etc) people, their land, cultures and traditions.” Subsequently, “October” is relevant to the project title because it was (1) the month Nigeria had her independence (October 1960) from British colonial rule, (2) it was the month when Pauline I. Nwozo, (Harrison Nwozo’s mother) succumbed to ovarian cancer, (October 1996). Finally, it symbolizes a new and positive perception of the nation to the international community. “October” is an autumn month when old leaves pass away and fall to make room for new leaves to grow and thrive. “Green October therefore is the re-branding of Nigeria through its music, presenting a new and fresh perspective and conversation of the country to the Western World and international community” said Harrison.
As part of the mix tape launch, Tribe X Entertainment teamed up with a non-profit organization in Silver Spring, Maryland, African Women’s Cancer Awareness Association dedicated to counseling, screening and providing breast cancer education to African women living in West Africa. Tribe X Entertainment also assists several nonprofit organizations in the Washington DC Metropolitan area that are raising donations through sponsorship, media and marketing campaigns to help orphans, women and children living in poverty and other less fortunate in Nigeria and West Africa.
