Akhere Obumese says: Much as we need local based players so also we do need local coaches but certainly not Amoudu Shaibu. Amoudu problems is compounded with the fact that he might be collecting dollars from the foreign based players which he may be sharing with the NFF.
It is shocking to see that the Nigerian league that was adjudged the best in Africa in 2009, Amoudu could could not find any player in the league to pick.
Egyptian team is dominated with above 90% home based players. It is high time legislation's is made that 80% of national team player should be home based. Sentiment aside, the home based players are better than the foreign based because they play active football all the time unlike must of our foreign based players who are pepetually on bench. When home based players are exposed to big tournament like nations cup and world cup it helps further to develop our league.
Funny enough the Egyptian players largely made up of AL Hali boys were trashed by Kano Pillars in the CAF Champions league last year. This same Egyptians boys humiliated the much talked about in famous foreign based Nigeria players.
It is painful to see that Amoudu could not pick one or two players from under seventeen for example Stanley Okoro of Heartland. Amoudu should have picked players from Heartland, Kano Pillars and other clubs in Nigeria to thrash the revered Egyptian team.
Since Amoudu is not performing we have coaches and players in Nigeria soil that can bring glory and honor to Nigeria. Issue of foreign coach is largely ruled by inferiority complex.
Coaches like Samson Siasia and a host of others can nurture home grown Nigeria players in the senior national team.
