10 Years With Star Mega Jam-Ludacris and Busta Rhymes

In the 10 years history of Star Mega Jam, the international music concert sponsored by Star Lager beer, the crowd that witnessed last Saturday’s edition held in Abuja was unprecedented. Indeed, to music lovers and fun seekers that thronged the Old Parade Ground at the Federal Capital Territory, the show was not only the biggest but also the best.
Tony Agenmonmen, Marketing Manager, Lager, had earlier boasted that Star lager was poised to make the 10th edition of the annual concert a memorable one for music lovers nationwide when he said that “Star Mega Jam has come to stay as the biggest and brightest music event in Nigeria.
We intend to keep it so as one of our ways of thanking millions of our consumers out there who continue to keep Star the number one beer in Nigeria.” And true to his words, the Abuja leg would go down as the biggest and brightest so far.
The excitement of it all had prompted international music star, Trevor Tahiem Smith Jr. aka Busta Rhymes to signify his intention of returning to the country for a repeat performance as soon as possible. “I will come back to Nigeria soon,” he vows.
The show also featured Christopher Brian Bridges aka Ludacris. Both foreign artistes had been joined by Nigeria’s big acts like Timaya, Bracket, 9ice, Wande Coal, M.I., Diamond and The Pulse, all giving a good account of themselves.
Kicking off on a bright note at about 10 pm, the concert that had Gbenga Adeyinka as compere, was all fun for the mammoth crowd who saw it as a huge Yuletide party and reveled in it all.
The highlight of the show, however, was the champagne toast to the Nigerian Breweries and the public endorsement of Star larger by Busta Rhymes, who also did a collabo with The Pulse on their hit song, So Tay.
Star Mega Jam debuted in 2000 when it featured Makossa exponent Awilo Logomba. This was followed in 2001 with the performance of Grammy award winner, Shaggy. Another Grammy award winner, Usher Raymond thrilled in 2002, while in 2003, Koffi Olomide, acclaimed father of Soukous, performed.
In 2004, rap super star, 50 Cent was featured on the demand of music lovers. 2005 saw for the first time on the Star Mega Jam stage, two international acts Ja Rule and Kevin Lyttle; 2006 paraded LL Cool J as well as international superstar, Akon. In 2007, Kanye West and T Pain performed. And last year, it was the turn of hip hop stars Nas and Nelly.
